Liturgical Planning for Religious Educators

Do you want to incorporate musical selections into your classes and liturgies with children of all ages, but don’t know how to do it? This workshop is for you! Paul Tate highlights HOW to plan and choose music appropriate for children, and offer practical advice for training young cantors. You’ll hear about ways that adult music ministers can work with children, communication suggestions for religious educators and music ministers, and techniques for teaching musical principles to children. Paul will share quality music for young voices that you can use in your classrooms and liturgies — music that’s already in your very own hymnal resource!

Liturgy-based Catechesis:
A Vibrant Model for the Entire Parish

Whole-community catechesis is based on the understanding that faith formation is a life-long process. The Lectionary offers catechetical moments for all hearers of the word.  The catechesis helps open up that word in a way that links all age levels with a common thread for each week, while addressing a variety of spirituality and faith needs.  The community is energized by a process that provides for cross-generational and cross-discipline sharing.

Sacred Moments–
Our Children and Youth Long for Them

This workshop will actively engage participants in developing skills in facilitating meditation and ritual with children and youth, which can draw them into deep stillness and intimate prayer. Using scripture storytelling, music and imagery, together with active imagination and visualization, or simply in creating a silent pause, we can provide sacred moments for out young people even in our classrooms!

Effective Practices in Catholic Youth Ministry

What's working in Catholic youth ministry and adolescent faith formation? Over the past three years, the Center for Ministry Development collaboratively studied effective practices in Catholic Youth Ministry. This study has included interviews with over five hundred youth and adults and a national gathering of youth ministry leaders. This workshop will present this study’s findings and provide practical implications in this area. It will promote an understanding of effective practices in parish youth ministry; provide an overview of effective faith formation practices with adolescents; and, present practical starting points for parishes with diverse ministry contexts.
