“The communication of faith … is, first of all, an event of grace…” (GDC 150) In our time together we’ll consider the eight human methodologies listed in the National Directory for Catechesis and, through reflection and discussion, we’ll discover how leaders in parish and school can use these methodologies to help foster faith in children and adults.

The Liturgical School Year: Celebrating the Body of Christ
OCP composers/teachers/liturgists Mark Friedman and Janet Vogt and choreographer/dancer/author Donna Anderle explore the catechesis of the "liturgical school year" and share new music and ideas for innovative liturgy planning and preparation to incorporate into you school liturgies, classroom lesson plans, and worship experiences. Janet, Mark, and Donna share creative ideas that follow the cycle, the seasons, and the special days which our young people experience in the course of the school year that unite them to the life and liturgy of the whole Body of Christ. The Word Is Made Flesh
This workshop is a practical exploration of the use of creative process in breaking open the Word of God with children and youth. Through the integration of music, mime, clowning, scripture storytelling an other creative process, participants will be actively involved in developing creative ways to support and nurture the spirituality and faith development of their students. It will demonstrate the practical “how to” in breaking open the Word in the lived experience of children and youth.

The Eucharist—A Rote & Boring Celebration?
This workshop will explore creative ideas for enriching the understanding of the Sacrament of the Eucharist in the classroom as well in the catechists’ personal experience. It will provide motivational and practical ways to engage with more meaning in the celebration of God’s Gift of a lifetime and discover how this mystery relates to our daily lives.
